Teams & SIGs / Special Interest Groups
Explore Research & Development, Web, Admin, Media & Documentation, Design & Decor, and Cultural. After joining your required operational team, you can optionally join any number of these SIGs to master specialized domains.
SIGs provide direct avenues for deep technical projects, research initiatives, visual arts, and media production. You may be a member of multiple SIGs simultaneously.
Advanced Computing, Artificial Intelligence & Academic Publishing
The R&D Group is our chapter's incubator for rigorous scientific exploration and technological breakthroughs. Members conduct cutting-edge research in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Distributed Systems, and Bioinformatics, with a direct pipeline toward publishing in premier IEEE, ACM, and Springer conferences.
Full-Stack Software Engineering, Cloud Architecture & DevOps
The Web Group builds and scales the core digital platforms powering NSU ACM SC. From high-performance Next.js portals and automated member dashboards to distributed judge scoring engines, the team architects production-grade, cloud-native applications with modern best practices in software craftsmanship.
Executive Chapter Governance, Documentation & Member Analytics
The Admin Group maintains the institutional memory, official documentation, and operational data integrity of the chapter. They oversee membership databases, official correspondence with ACM Headquarters, certification verification, and internal chapter compliance.
Cinematic Videography, Photography & Visual Storytelling
The M&D Group immortalizes the vibrant life of our chapter through cinematic lenses and compelling visual storytelling. They shoot high-definition photo galleries, direct event aftermovies, produce podcast interviews, and manage the chapter's official media archives.
Immersive Venue Installations, Ambient Scenography & Experiential Craft
The D&D Group turns physical university spaces into breathtaking themed environments. They ideate and construct custom 3D stage backdrops, interactive photo booths, ambient lighting installations, and spatial decor that leave lasting impressions on every visitor.
Creative Arts, Musical Performances & Community Traditions
The Cultural Group brings soul, rhythm, and vibrant camaraderie to our technological community. Organizing acoustic nights, celebratory cultural galas, festive reunions, and live stage performances, they ensure our chapter thrives with artistic balance and deep human connection.
SIGs operate in parallel with teams. Membership is voluntary, and your role can differ across groups — for example, you can serve as a Senior Member in Web while participating as a General Member in R&D.
Technical vision and project direction. Coordinators design the group roadmap, steer research publications or web deployments, and interface with Executive Body members.
Technical mentorship and workshop facilitation. Moderators run hands-on technical sessions, design reviews, code reviews, and oversee sprint deliverables.
Experienced domain specialists driving flagship technical initiatives, authoring papers, or designing high-impact visual media assets.
Active contributors applying their skills to open-source software, research experiments, chapter media production, or cultural initiatives.
New SIG entrants learning domain tools, collaborating on starter repositories, and demonstrating technical or creative readiness.
SIG outputs directly feed into chapter publications, peer-reviewed research papers, live digital services, and exhibition showcases.
Unlike the single-team rule, you may join as many SIGs as you wish, aligning your extracurricular involvement with your learning goals.
SIG members develop full-stack web applications, run AI/ML study groups, curate technical archives, and create cinematic event media.
SIG technical work directly powers the operational teams, providing custom event registration sites, promotional trailers, and stage designs.
