The NSU ACM Student Chapter hosted a highly successful seminar on "Computational Thinking & Problem Solving" on March 1, 2026. While the event featured Dr. Valentina Dagienฤ—, founder of the Bebras International Informatics Contest, she unfortunately fell ill during the event. Renowned educator Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad gracefully stepped in, delivering an intellectually engaging and humorous lecture to a packed house. He emphasized the universal importance of analytical problem-solving and encouraged students to actively participate in programming contests, making the session a memorable learning experience for all attendees.

Seminar on Computational Thinking & Problem Solving: A Resounding Success\n\nOn March 1, 2026, the NSU ACM Student Chapter hosted an exclusive seminar titled "Computational Thinking & Problem Solving" for the students of North South University. The event was designed to highlight computational thinking not just as a programming tool, but as a fundamental skill for structured reasoning and analytical problem-solving across all disciplines.\n\nThe chapter was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. (HP) Valentina Dagienฤ— from Vilnius University, Lithuania. As the founder of the globally renowned Bebras International Informatics Contest and a pioneer in CS education, her presence drew a massive crowd of curious minds and problem-solving enthusiasts, resulting in a full house at AUDI801.\n\nDue to the exhaustion of travel and navigating Dhaka traffic, Dr. Dagienฤ— felt unwell shortly into the event. However, the session was seamlessly rescued by Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad. Stepping in with grace, Dr. Kaykobad delivered an intellectually engaging and surprisingly humorous lecture that captivated the audience. He discussed the critical need for students to develop robust problem-solving and analytical skills, strongly emphasizing the value of participating in a wide array of problem-solving contests.\n\nBefore concluding, Dr. Kaykobad thanked the attendees for their patience and curiosity, expressing his desire to return to North South University for a longer, more in-depth session in the future. The NSU ACM Student Chapter remains committed to creating a strong culture of learning and looks forward to hosting more dynamic events across diverse fields of Computer Science.\n\nEvent Details:\n\tDate: March 1, 2026\n\tTime: 03:00 PM - 05:00 PM\n\tVenue: AUDI801, North South University\n\tHost: NSU ACM Student Chapter
